Beautiful People: Alex

Okay, I know it's the end of September. But who cares! Today I'm doing the September edition of Beautiful People, which is an awesome link-up hosted by Cait at Paper Fury and Sky at Further Up and Further In.
You may have read the Beautiful People I did in July, which was for the main character of my fantasy novel. Well today, I'm answering the questions about her brother, Alex. He's my baby.

To start, let me tell you a little bit about Alex. Unlike Lily, Alex was popular in high school and graduated with average grades. At the beginning of the series, he's 21 years old, working at a garage, and living with his aunt and sister. Alex is charming, confident, and a big flirt, but he's also extremely protective of Lily. We has Warrior magic, which basically allows him to summon fire, have perfect reflexes, and use any weapon he chooses with skill and mastery. While he acts confident and in control, deep inside Alex struggles with anger, fear, and anxiety that he must learn to overcome as he takes on the role as King of Aurelia.
Did I mention he's also my baby? Because Alex is seriously my baby.
On to the questions!

1. They’re in a crisis: who would they really like to see right now? Either Lily, Bella (Alex and Lily's aunt/legal guardian. Think Aunt Cass from Big Hero Six) or Kadence, Alex's best friend/assistant/fighting partner.
2. Are they easy to get along with? Alex? Pssh, yes. Alex is the type of guy who would go to a concert and make friends with everyone standing in line.
3. Who was the last person they had a deep conversation with? Mmm... well, I'm not very far into writing this book, so *opens manuscript to double check* Bella!
4. They’re in the middle of a huge crowd of people: how do they feel? Well, that depends on the crowd. If it's a party, Alex would be right at home. If it was a crowd of angry bad guys, he would probably still feel right at home, but also pumped with adrenaline from kicking butt.
5. Do they believe in luck or miracles? Not at first, but he will by the end of the books.
6. Do they like and get along with their neighbours? Well, in Reality Alex, Lily, and Bella live in a secluded part of town where there aren't any neighbors around, and in Aurelia the neighbors are other kingdoms, so it depends on the kingdom, I guess!
7. If they could travel anywhere in the world, where would they go? Alex actually isn't very big on travelling. He likes to be home, but Lily would snatch this opportunity and go to Italy in a heartbeat.
8. How do they feel about their body? Hehehehehe. Alex is the most confident character I have. He flaunts his six pack and perfectly chiseled arms as often as he possibly can.
9. What is the cruellest thing someone has ever said to them? How did they react? He was once told that he would never be like his father, which really cut him up inside. Alex looked up to his father all his life, so to be told that he would never be like him when that's Alex's goal definitely hurts him inside. Outside, however, he brushes it off.
10. What’s the kindest thing someone has ever said to them? How did they react? Kadence tells him that he is the bravest person she's ever met, and though it sounds simple, it means a lot to Alex and it's something he'll never forget.

And there you have it! I'm hoping to share some of what I have of my fantasy book with all of you soon to get some feedback. Then you can really see what Alex is like :) Until then, you can check out some of my other stories and writings here. Thanks for reading!

UPDATE: Chapter two of Unperfected is rewritten and up on Wattpad! You can check that out here.

  1. Yes! I like! And you do a great job of expressing the panic at the end. And I can relate to the underdog thing. Even when I do it on kids something bad happens. I think I dumped my cousin backwards out of the swing once.
