Why Do You Write?

I've had (and am continuing to have) an extremely busy week, so this post is going to be a little on the short side. However, I hope it leaves you with something to think about. So...
Honestly, I think this quote could not be more true. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people act like writing is super easy or that anyone can just sit down and write a book in an hour. Um, no!
Writing is work. Hard work. It's like giving yourself extra homework to do every day for the rest of the foreseeable future! So naturally when people read something like this and then find out I'm a writer, they ask me why. Why do I write?
That's a tough question, simply because I could answer it in so many ways. I write because I need to. Because I want to. Because it's my passion. Because I love it. I write because if I don't the characters in my head won't have a home and then I'll feel bad. Seriously, I could go on forever!
So my point of this tiny post is why do you write? What is it about writing that makes it such a necessary part of your life?
Writing is difficult. It's frustrating. It's brought me to tears many times for many different reasons, but I love it. I love creating characters, I love creating worlds, I love crafting beautiful sentences. I love painting pictures in the minds of others and creating scenes or phrases that move people to tears.
I love it, and that's why I write. So why do you?

"We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us." Romans 12:6a
